NEET Counselling 2024 – Comprehensive Guide

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will oversee the NEET 2024 counselling for All India Quota (AIQ) seats, including those in central universities and other institutes, starting from July 6, 2024. This guide provides detailed information on the counselling process, including registration, choice filling, fees, and important dates.

  • All India Counselling: Conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for the National Medical Council (NMC).
  • State Counselling: Conducted by the respective state authorities.

Seat Distribution

  • All India Counselling:
    • 15% of government medical and dental seats.
    • 100% of seats in deemed and central universities, ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation), AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College), AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research), and BSc Nursing programs.
  • State Quota:
    • 85% of government seats.
    • 100% of private seats within the state.

NEET 2024 Counselling Schedule

  • NEET UG Exam Date: May 5, 2024
  • NEET UG Result Declaration: June 4, 2024
  • Counselling Start Date: July 6, 2024 (tentative)

NEET 2024 Counselling Process

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit the official MCC website: mcc.nic.in.
  • Click on the “New Registration” link.
  • Fill in the required personal and academic details.
  • Create a password and note down the registration ID for future use.
  • Pay the non-refundable registration fee and refundable security deposit.

Step 2: Choice Filling and Locking

  • Log in using your registration ID and password.
  • Select your preferred courses and colleges from the available options.
  • You can modify your choices until the locking period ends.
  • Ensure to lock your choices before the deadline. If not locked, the choices will be locked automatically on the last date.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

  • The seat allotment process is conducted in multiple rounds:
    • Round 1: Initial allotment based on rank and choices.
    • Round 2: For candidates who didn’t get a seat or wish to upgrade.
    • Mop-Up Round: For vacant seats after the first two rounds.
    • Stray Vacancy Round: Final round for remaining vacant seats.
  • Seat allotment is based on NEET rank, choices filled, seat availability, and reservation policies.

Step 4: Reporting to the Allotted College

  • Download the seat allotment letter from the MCC website.
  • Report to the allotted college within the specified time frame.
  • Carry the required documents for verification (original and photocopies).

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility

  • Must have qualified NEET 2024.
  • Jammu and Kashmir candidates are eligible for AIQ counselling if they opt in.
  • Registration on the MCC website is mandatory.

Central University Eligibility

  1. Delhi University (LHMC, UCMS, MAMC):
    • 15% seats for AIQ.
    • 85% seats for candidates who completed their 10+2 in Delhi.
  2. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU):
    • 50% seats reserved for AMU school students (studied last 3 years).
    • 50% seats for all India candidates.
  3. BHU (Banaras Hindu University):
    • Open to all India candidates.
  4. Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi:
    • 3 BDS seats under internal quota for JMI students.
    • 47 seats for all India candidates.
  5. VMMC & SJH (Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital):
    • 15% seats for AIQ.
    • Remaining seats for students who completed 10+2 in Delhi.

Fee Structure

Registration Fee

  • Non-refundable registration fee for AIQ and Central Universities:

Security Deposit

  • AIQ/Central Universities:
    • General Category: INR 10,000
    • SC/ST/OBC/PwD Category: INR 5,000
  • Deemed Universities: INR 2,00,000 (for all categories)
